We visited for the Kandinsky exhibition, which was very good. A great range of works, showing his evolution and different styles, as well as learning more about his life. The building and setting are lovely; yes it’s a bit of a trek - metro then bus but a nice walk through parkland too and worth it. Interesting outdoor sculptures and a range of modern art inside, a couple of hours is sufficient for a good visit.
Lovely museum in a nice part of town. I went because of the Kandinsky exhibit which was wonderful. The museum offers 3 euro refunding lockers for your bags/coats which are not allowed near the exhibits due the the worldwide vandalism to art lately. Very friendly and helpful staff and security.
It's a beautiful museum with lots of intriguing arts. Definitely recommend, I really enjoyed myself there.
It’s a great museum - situated in the middle of a park with sculptures around. Amazing in summer and so peaceful. Exhibits are very good. Gift shop is quite expensive (25 Euros for a Kandinsky cup). Overall great experience and staff are lovely. It is wheelchair accessible
Fantastic Kandinsky exhibition showcasing his life and changing styles. Rest of the art is organised into themes and well worth a visit just for this. Don't be put off by the out of town location, the site is in a Lovely large park. The bus to the gallery links up well with two subway stations.
Okay, this has some 'big hitters' Picasso, Braque, etc. But the really interesting thing is the story of Art Brut, which is explained during the exhibition of the permanent collection. I didn't get it all, but isn't that the point? Be warned though, some pictures in the museum contain ladies breasts, uncovered. Google won't allow me to show images of these and if these will offend you probably best not to go. It is well worth a visit but both the Palais in Lille and the Piscine in Roubaix are more accessible in multiple senses.
It is a really nice museum. The temporary exhibitions were the main attraction. They also spoke English, which was a big +. It is a bit far away, so you need to take either a bus and metro, or a car.
Very nice experience in Lille on a hot day. Calm and not too many people. There's a restaurant that we ignored. We visited the permanent exhibition only which was very impressive. There are lockers for your stuff.
