I recently had the chance to visit the Musée Fragonard and its Jean-Honoré collection in Grasse, and I must say it was one of the highlights of my trip to the French Riviera. What impressed me most was how intimate and authentic the experience felt. Unlike some larger, more overwhelming museums, this one has a quiet charm that allows you to really take your time with the works on display. The collection dedicated to Jean-Honoré Fragonard is especially moving. Seeing his paintings and drawings in the very town where he was born adds an extra layer of depth to the visit. The museum does a wonderful job of highlighting not only his artistry but also his ties to Grasse, which gives the experience a personal and almost local touch. The rooms are arranged in a way that feels both elegant and approachable, so you don’t feel rushed or crowded, and you can truly connect with the art. What I also appreciated was the balance between the art itself and the context provided. The information panels are clear, insightful, and not too overwhelming. You come away with a real sense of Fragonard’s style, his role in the Rococo movement, and how his works reflect both the lightheartedness and refinement of that period. Even if you are not an art historian, the museum manages to make his world accessible and engaging. Another detail that made the visit special was the atmosphere. The building itself has so much character, with its old walls and quiet corners, that you almost feel like you’re stepping back in time. Combined with the fragrant air of Grasse drifting in from outside, it’s an experience that engages more than just your eyes, it feels like you’re truly immersed in French culture and history. Overall, I would highly recommend the Musée Fragonard to anyone visiting Grasse, whether you’re an art lover or simply curious about the town’s heritage. It doesn’t take an entire day, but it leaves a lasting impression, and it’s the kind of place where you walk out feeling richer in

This was classy and curated, worth a visit. The tour was very interesting and educative, quite interactive. The tour guide (Swedish lady) was a good pedagogue! And of course, after, you have a plethora of fragrances and products to choose from 🪷🏵🌸 Recommended!

Fragonard was founded in 1926 and took its name from the well-known painter, in honor of it. On the ground floor you will see a representation of the traditional distillation process, while on the upper floor you will choose perfumes, body creams and room fragrances at prices starting from 20 euros per 100ml. The staff were very kind and helped us to find the perfect perfumes.

Grasse is really the biggest tourist trap I've been to. The shops and streets all look dated and really doesn't offer much in terms of touristic sights. Also saw a weaponry shop right at main street...didn't feel safe with the higher number of dodgy characters I saw around. The train back to cannes comes every hour so if you missed, it is a long wait.

Great museum/perfumery with perfume and fragrant soaps for sale. Antique perfume bottles on display. On the edge of centre Grasse. Lovely.

Been there in summer 2023 and the visit was really interesting, we learned a lot about how perfumes were made!

What a nice museum, with several temporary exposition and beautiful (very much worth to see!) permanent one. And what a kind people working here. Especially a nice gentleman who is caring of the first floor exposition. So nice and kind! Every time in Grasse put this museum in my “must visit” list.
