Room 202....full of damp and mould ! No hot water in the evenings, 2 nights I had cold showers after work ,around 21:00 hrs

I chose this hotel because they advertise: "The multilingual and friendly staff at the Comfort Hotel Lille L'Union will be happy to assist you and provide you with advice and information to ensure you make the most of your stay in Lille." I assumed that 'multilingual' meant there would be someone on staff that could communicate in English. I was wrong. They were friendly, and they did try to help, but they had no ability to communicate in English. They offered me their phone so I could speak into Google Translate and then they would try to answer back. The process was not very successful. Otherwise, the room was clean and the hotel was quiet. But not recommended for English speakers without knowledge of some French.

+ve: Friendly staff, easy parking, quiet neighbourhood. Metro station a couple of hundred metres away, very handy. Helpful message with navigation instructions. |-ve: Sound insulation is poor - sound of people talking from 04:30. Very busy car route in.

Room is quite small. Installations are quite old. Light on the corridor turns on only after having gone some metres. Nevertheless: Rooms are clean, breakfast is very good, personnel friendly.

Services were just really wonderful. Friendly people at the reception helped us remove a giant spider from our room in the middle of the night while keeping a good attitude ;) As you can imagine, the spider was less of good news. Minuscule but newer bathroom. Very dates room but admittedly good bed and curtains filtering all the light. We did sleep well. All this room is, is really just that. A place to get some shuteye time. Perfect location to travel the region from there. Lille just 20 mins away.

Overall, the hotel was pleasant and rooms were quite clean. Our two family rooms were a long way from each other, but perhaps that is the just the layout of the hotel (we are a large family). It would have been nicer if they were adjacent. The carpet in the corridors needs to be replaced and there were a couple of large spiders that appeared in one of the rooms when we first arrived.

Noisy AC in the room. I asked for it to be fixed, but nothing was done, and I couldn’t sleep because of it.

Not the greatest but is definitely above the average. This hotel is one of my preferences because of the hotel chain they’re part of (you generally know what you’re paying for), free parking, location and very good value for money ratio. This hotel is not a skyscraper and as such you might need to walk quite a bit between your room, reception and a restaurant. Rooms aren’t flashy – pretty standard but clean and serviced properly. All the linen is high quality and is always fresh. Some rooms have spas – ask at the time of booking if you’re interested. Talking about the restaurant – don’t expect a fine cuisine there. They actually don’t have a restaurant and have some sort of arrangement with a worker’s club (pub) nearby, which is absolutely perfect for the breakfast but I’d go elsewhere for lunch or dinner. Check-in and check-out is quick and easy. I really appreciate it.
