This beautiful cathedral has an intriguing history and I was fascinated by its splendour, especially the interior. The west façade is ultra modern until I entered and was struck by its warmth. The central nave leads straight to the Choir with left and right aisles which took me to several chapels behind the high altar. There's seven chapels and I was particularly drawn to the Chapel of Joan of Arc. There's so much to explore in this cathedral. Being a classified French monument, it's free to enter.
Wonderful moving experience to visit. There was a funeral taking place and I sat in the back and viewed.
This was a nice surprise - not great looking from the outside but when you go in it’s well worth it. Amazing glass panels inside the main door which change colour when the sun shines. Take a few minutes to enjoy!
We visited the cathedral on Sunday. From the outside, it appeared rather unimpressive, with a heavy, grey architectural style. But once inside, it was stunning—especially the vibrant stained glass windows and the beautifully crafted sculptures.
When i got to the church for a visit on a saturday noon, it was so crowded with people on their best clothes for mass. A nice sight to see locals with their religion. The church itself is nice with a mix of modern and gothic architecture and many arts displayed for the visitors to see.
We visited the Notre-Dame de la Treille Cathedral and overall had a very positive experience. The location is excellent, right in the city center and easy to reach on foot. The cathedral itself is not particularly spectacular or heavily decorated, it has a rather clean and simple Gothic style, which may feel less impressive compared to other major European cathedrals. That said, the atmosphere is truly beautiful and suggestive. We attended the Easter Vigil mass, and it was a genuinely special and memorable experience that we would highly recommend. Despite being a large cathedral, it still has a very local, parish-like feeling, with groups of people who clearly know each other and a strong sense of community, which makes the experience even more authentic. Definitely worth visiting, especially if you have the chance to attend a service.
Such beautiful cathedral, it’s definitely worth a visit! We were really impressed by its architecture, stained-glass windows and overall maintenance. We only wished we could have enjoyed the illumination show (it seems magnificent online), but sadly it’s only from Tuesday to Saturday, so we missed it! Try to book yours, it’s not too expensive and it looks great on their website and on the posters they had at the cathedral! 👍
I don’t think I’ve ever written a review for a church before but since I really enjoyed my visit, I’ll make an exception! I spent about 20 minutes inside. At the back of the church, there are explanations for each shrine about the art, paintings, and/or statues you can see, also available in English. The decorations in general are very nice. The exterior is original, and inside you can find the story of the church’s construction.
