An unexpectedly splendid Russian Orthodox Cathedral that looks straight out of Moscow in the middle of Nice. Good, informative tour offered. By the time they are finished telling you about this relative of the Tsar, and that relative of the Tsar, it's a bit difficult to sort out. But the icons and the ornate design are a sight to behold.
We walked here after a museum visit, it is certainly a very beautiful church. There was a wedding so the museum was not open and access was understandably limited. There is a museum downstairs for a fee which was not open to us due to the wedding. Clearly another a visit is required. The richness of the building is amazing.
Beautiful cathedral. Museum in crypt has video on rotation that explains the history of the church and the Russian presence in this part of Europe. Wonderful experience and astonishingly beautiful architecture and art work.
The Saint Nicolas cathedral was built in 1912. It's a beautiful Cathedral, close to central Nice. There is a nice garden surrounding the Cathedral. One of the must visit places in Nice.
What a grandiose place of worship! The church looks absolutely fabulous both from outside and majestic on the inside. Being my first visit to a Russian Orthodox church, there were so many things that were different to my eyes. There is no longitudinal nave with bench seats. Instead this is what traditional wooden chapels would have looked like. The construction reminded me of Ottoman buildings (pardon my ignorance). The intense gilded decor and dark shaded paintings instantly detaches you from the outer chaotic world. Amazing experience.
Nice church to visit with lots of history. I wasn't able to stay long inside as there was a bapism going on. Worth a look.
The Saint Nicholas Cathedral in Nice is striking from the outside with its classic Russian-style architecture. Inside is smaller than expected but still charming, with some lovely artworks. The tiny museum has a limited display, so it’s a quick stop rather than a long visit. Worth seeing if you’re nearby, but don’t expect a grand interior.
Beautiful place, but an active churche so please make sure to visit outside of mess hours. There is a nice museum in the crypt worth visiting and learning about the history of this church. A bit unusual place to visit as a tourist but very interesting.
