A stunning introduction to the medieval city is this bridge from the 14th century. Up until n the 19th century, it was the only access from the Bastide, these days pedestrian bridge giving a scenic entrance to the Medieval City.
A beautiful 14th-century structure, reserved for pedestrians, which spans the River Aude to bring walkers to the foot of the medieval city, in Rue Trivalle. It is a wonderful observation post on the city and the surrounding mountains, the Pic de Nore on one side, the Pyrenean foothills on the other. You can picnic on the lawns of the garden dedicated to Pierre and Maria Sire, two authors from Aude, and take the children to have fun in the fenced playground.
It's definitely worth crossing this historical bridge heading towards the castle cite.... have a nice stroll and soak in the lovely river/castle/city view....there is a public paid carpark conveniently located at the end of the bridge.
One of the best old bridges I’ve ever been on or seen. Amazing views from the bridge over the canal. Even better to view the bridge from the newer bridge a few meters away. Classic looking bridge.
Beautiful way to get to the castle and old town.
A great place to grab your first views of Cite de Carrcassone. The bridge is simple and wide. It has been repaved so you are walking on asphalt not cobble stones. There are ample photo opportunities. Either end of the bridge can get a bit steep so watch out for the lower mobile in your group. Perfect way to start your walk from the town to the old city.
Beautiful old foot bridge connecting La Cite to the town. Worth a walk across to soak up the atmosphere of the approach.
Great place to see the whole castle! Also nice area for a short walk.
