Created by Lyon muralists CitéCréation in 1994/95, the Fresque des Lyonnais turns an 800-square-metre blind wall at Quai Saint-Vincent and Rue de la Martinière into a trompe-l’œil building inhabited by the city’s history. Figures appear at painted windows, doors and balconies, arranged in a vertical order rather than scattered across the façade: the lower levels stay close to the present-day street, while older figures rise through the upper floors. Around 250 proposed names passed through learned, historical and heritage circles before 24 historical Lyonnais figures were chosen. The result places saints, scientists, writers, filmmakers, inventors, cooks and popular figures into everyday view, making civic memory public, readable and distinctly tied to Lyon’s mural tradition.

Beautiful place to walk out to sit and enjoy a coffee. Great recreational space and very peaceful in the bustling hear of the city.

Erm. Will not say fantastic. No need to come just for this unless you have time or feeling to fill the gap of your time. Nonetheless, looks nice, just that the graffiti below don’t look good on this building.

A very beautiful, quite real feeling that those personalities are standing there. Even the impression that you can walk inside, hahaha. I definitely recommend it for watching.
