Boccaccio, Nice — an exceptional seafood experience elevated by spot‑on wine pairings. Began with Gillardeau No. 1 oysters, the largest and most impressive size, served perfectly chilled and impeccably fresh. Their natural creaminess and delicate iodine sweetness were beautifully matched with a coupe of Taittinger Champagne. The champagne’s crisp acidity, fine bubbles, and subtle brioche notes cut through the richness of the oysters while enhancing their briny freshness—an ideal, classic pairing done exactly right. Had the lobster (langouste) special of the day for main course, and it was outstanding—tender, sweet, and expertly prepared. This was paired with a glass of Pouilly white wine, which proved to be an excellent choice. The wine’s minerality, freshness, and restrained citrus notes complemented the sweetness of the lobster without overpowering it, allowing the flavors of the dish to shine while adding structure and elegance to each bite. Impeccable wine guidance, high‑quality ingredients, and attentive yet relaxed service made the meal feel refined and effortless. Boccaccio clearly understands how to pair seafood and wine with precision. Easily one of the best seafood lunches in Nice—highly recommended.
They are famous for paella, but seafood to rice ratio was off. Too much chorizo gave it a nice color but made it greasy and it killed any hope to taste saffron, if there was any in it because it was not detectable, neither in color nor in the taste. Calamari was tough, mussels overcooked. But the worst part is that it came out cold. Not worth the price. However, crème brûlée and service were amazing!!!
I visited this restaurant after seeing it recommended by a popular Korean YouTuber. The atmosphere was lovely, the food was delicious, and above all, the service truly stood out. The staff member who took care of us was incredibly kind and attentive, making the whole dining experience comfortable and enjoyable. It was honestly one of the most friendly and cheerful services I’ve received while traveling across Europe. The vongole pasta was perfectly cooked, and the oysters were fresh and flavorful. If you’re considering a visit, I would definitely recommend it. (Also, I accidentally bumped into one of the lights on my way out—hope it’s okay! )
Had a great dinner at Boccaccio in Nice. The seafood was fresh, portions were generous, and everything tasted excellent. Service was friendly and efficient, even though the restaurant was busy. Nice atmosphere, good location, and overall a very enjoyable experience. Would definitely come back and recommend it to anyone visiting Nice.
All the food we ordered was quite delicious.. From the Blue Crab salad, mussels, calamari, lamb and sole. Finished off with the La Crepe Suzzette with Grand Marnier. The inside, upstairs part of the restaurant is very nice.
Seafood and paella restaurant. Superb service, waiters were very friendly. Took scallops. They were good, but the portion could be twice as big. I took a seat on the terrace. Even though they have heaters, keep in mind that it might be chilly. Reserve a seat! Usually, they are fully booked.
First of all, I have to mention the waiter. He was the kindest waiter in the world. He was the perfect man. Second, the food—OMG! If you like seafood, this is the place in Nice! As a starter, if you order the black clam, you'll get about a kilo. I said no freaking way! And the two-person sea platter had everything. We were so full we couldn't finish it. I have to say, it was one of the best seafood experiences since the Dominican Republic!
🇬🇧 English When visiting Boccaccio, it becomes very clear very quickly that this is not only about good food, but about a coherent overall experience combining atmosphere, hospitality and cuisine. From the moment you enter the restaurant, you immediately feel at ease. The warm colours, the high-quality furniture, the abundance of wood and the harmonious lines create a cosy, almost private atmosphere. Nothing feels cold or staged; rather, you have the feeling of sitting in a very beautiful living room. Particularly impressive is the aquarium in the centre of the room, which conveys a calm, maritime depth and perfectly matches the culinary focus. Light, colours and spatial design blend beautifully here and create a relaxed, elegant mood. A key part of this experience is the exceptionally friendly service. The attentiveness of the team is remarkable – warm, present and always pleasantly discreet. You are looked after carefully without ever feeling watched. This natural friendliness, combined with professionalism and experience, plays a decisive role in making guests feel welcome and valued. Culinarily, the focus is clearly on seafood, and this is where the house truly shows its strength. The products are of outstanding quality, and the preparation is precise and respectful, without unnecessary effects. The seafood platter deserves special mention and is simply sensational. Oysters, shellfish and other seafood are served in a quality that is beyond reproach – absolutely fresh, perfectly tempered and without any gimmicks. Here, the product speaks for itself, and at a very high level. Another highlight is the whole fish, pan-fried and served as classically and as well as one could wish for. Whether sole, sea bass or sea bream – the quality is consistently excellent. The fish are cooked to perfection and professionally filleted, calmly, precisely and with great confidence. Regardless of the choice, each fish impresses with freshness, flavour and craftsmanship at the s
