I've been at the Alliance Française for two weeks and my French has already improved a lot. I feel very comfortable in class and the atmosphere is excellent. A big thank you to my teacher Camille, who is very competent, pedagogical and fun. She makes every class interesting and enjoyable. Highly recommend! 😊🇫🇷
I signed up for classes and I’ve emailed and called multiple times for information, class time, etc and no one has gotten back with me in 3 weeks. Update: less than an hour after posting this review I received a phone call with information and a confirmation email of my payment.
I attended a class for two weeks at the Alliance Francaise in Montpellier, level B1. My teacher was highly qualified, and encouraged vivid discussions within in the class, as well as coaching us through the various challenges relating to grammar, vocabulary and articulation. The large central hallway works as a meeting point between students and staff, and the atmosphere is of openness and exchange. Most of the students are in their 20s and 30s, with some seniors adding to this great mix of nationalities and ages. The course took place every day between 2 and 5 pm, and it was possible to join a multitude of cultural activities at other times of the day. Alliance Francaise is situated in the charming and vivid medieval city centre, the school is on the second floor of a grand villa with a lot of atmosphere. Even staying for only two weeks, my French has leaped forward. I found it an ideal combination of a French studies combined with stimulating cultural experiences - highly recommended!
A great place to learn French! I just did an Intensive 1 week advanced French course, and I learnt a lot! The lessons were very creative, exciting and profound. The Staff is amazing too! I was always listened to and my problems were treated professionally and with kindness. Not to mention the activities! Very nice people help you to have a full experience of France's culture, nature and everyday life. It was a blast! I would love to come back to this excellent school and to this city full of good vibes! (: <3
I have never been a student of this place but I have been there twice for the exam of TCF. All the teachers are respectful, professional and kind to all the people who came to take exams. There was one person who was panicking after the TCF and there was one of the teachers who was there to listen to her and reassuring.
First off, the teacher we had was amazing, I would absolutely rate her five stars. I really appreciated how patient she was and the thoughtful and interesting lessons. We did however struggle at times with quite a large variation in French speaking level within our class which slowed down the lessons at times. I had signed up for the cultural activities before arriving at the language school. I would strongly recommend against doing this. The activities aren’t pitched at your level and in our case included a concert in Arabic that multiple students walked out of. I also attended one of the weekend day trips. During the day trip we spent about half the time on a large coach travelling with quite a short amount of time in the interesting towns and villages we visited. There were about 35 attendees on the tour so it was really quite a large group. For the last town we visited, we spent only 25 minutes before we had to leave again. After attending the first three activities, we decided not to attend any of the others and make our own plans. I would recommend planning your own activities - you can arrange them to suit your interests and your French level and choose better quality experiences.
Great place to learn French! I did a two week intensive course here. Well-structured teaching and plenty of activities outside the course. Located in a beautiful old building, which was air conditioned (very important if, like me, you're not used to Mediterranean weather).
I truly enjoyed my stay at Alliance Francais. I stayed for four weeks and enjoyed every day. The school did a great job in engaging the students together. One of the things that I truly enjoyed was meeting new people. New students arrive every week and the school does a great job in getting everyone to meet each other, it feels like a true community although we’re all just passing through. The courses are great and usually in small numbers. The professors really take their time to explain and make sure you understand the lesson. The daily and weekly excursions are great a way to meet people and get to know Montpellier and surrounding cities. I definitely recommend visiting AF Montpellier if you wish to engage in french culture, meet new people and learn French.
