Well located and well equipped with information board. Disregard the migrants selling cigarettes outside the station 😬 scary! Also there are scooters 🛴 to be rented if needed. Very convenient with the Metro also in the same station and the Eurostar to England 🇬🇧
🚉 Gare du Nord – Impressive exterior, busy and chaotic inside ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ We passed through Gare du Nord a number of times during our trip, entering from different sides, and it’s one of those places that leaves a strong impression straight away. 🏛️ First Impressions From the outside, the building looks absolutely stunning: Grand, historic architecture Beautiful stonework and statues Feels like a proper gateway into Paris It really sets the tone when you first arrive in the city. 🚶 Inside the Station Once inside, it’s a completely different experience: Very busy and fast-paced Large open spaces but filled with people A constant flow of travellers heading in all directions It can feel a bit overwhelming at times, especially during peak periods. 🚉 Navigation & Layout Plenty of entrances and access points Good connections to metro, trains, and Eurostar Signage is there, but you do need to stay alert to find your way around Allow a bit of extra time if you’re unfamiliar with the layout. ☕ Facilities There are: Shops, cafes, and food outlets Places to grab a quick bite or drink Everything you’d expect from a major international station That said, it can feel a little rushed and crowded rather than relaxed. Lovely clean toilets but cosy €1 per person 👨👩👧👦 Family Perspective Travelling with children: Manageable, but busy Keep a close eye due to crowds Not somewhere you’d want to hang around longer than needed ⭐ Final Verdict A beautiful and iconic station from the outside, but inside it’s very much a busy transport hub that can feel hectic. Great for connections, just be prepared for the crowds – 4 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Traveled through Gare Du Nord on my way to Brussels Belgium and it was a very simple and easy to get to my train. Many different languages are offered here and even if you still cant find your way theres alot of rail workers you can ask for help. Very nice facility! Would definitely recommend this station. Not to mention theres so many cafes and eateries all around and inside the station.
Beautiful train station in Paris, looked a bit little chaotic with lots of people in the hall waiting to board and getting off the train. Trains depart to France and other European destinations all depart from here. This area looks very busy all the time with lot different types people, but I find to be safe to walk around.......... but still be aware.
Gare du Nord is one of Paris’s most iconic and impressive train stations and a place you will almost certainly pass through during any visit to the city. First thing to note — this station is absolutely massive. Navigating it for the first time can feel overwhelming and it genuinely requires your full attention to find your way around. Multiple platforms, multiple metro lines, RER connections and international departures all under one roof. Our honest advice — give yourself extra time on your first visit, follow the signs carefully and don’t be afraid to ask staff for help. They are generally helpful and the station is well signposted once you get your bearings. On the positive side — the food and shopping options are excellent and genuinely convenient. Plenty of cafés, bakeries and quick service restaurants to choose from across all budgets. What particularly impressed us was that several shops open as early as 7 AM — perfect if you are catching an early train or heading to Disneyland on the RER and need a quick breakfast before boarding. The station does get very busy — particularly during morning rush hour — so be mindful of your belongings and keep the kids close in the crowds. A magnificent piece of Parisian architecture that has stood the test of time. Chaotic at times but full of energy and character.
This is a huge station, spread out in 3 Halls, each with their own letters. Overall, it was clean, well served with places to eat and supermarkets, information boards. What we missed were chairs to sit on. We arrived earlier for our Eurostar train, and then our train had a 25 min delay. During this time, all of us were standing.. no place to sit. It should be more accessible in this way.
This was really very beautiful. we loved it very much. definitely a recommendation to go there once. And everything is easy to find. Negatives: it is quite busy especially at the Eurostar waiting area to go to Amsterdam. there is little seating or already full. if you really want to sit you will have to take a drink in one of the coffee cafes. We went to Starbucks bought a coffee and all our luggage. The Eurostar to London is a whole different story.
This station has always been a bit of a mix of positive and negative to me. I dislike the underground and the outside of the station. I have fluctuating ability and find that the station is not accessible at all. And I can walk... On top of this it is always crowded and looking dirty. The halls and main station are acceptable. Eurostar is OK. Compared to St Pancras the assistance has got a proper waiting area which is unbelievable as Paris is not disabled friendly at all when it comes to transports. I love that they have stores and you can shop while travelling it's a plus.
