I was expecting more given all the reviews and hype. It's a nice spot don't get me wrong but I felt it was a tad artificial. There are better places to enjoy palm trees and sand that are wilder such as the étang salé. If you don't have time you can skip or prioritize something else.
Cute black sand beach, however its was extremely hot to walk around. Doesn’t have much shady places to lay your towel, so wether you squeeze yourself between each other, or you get under the sun. Has a good fresh water shower on the entrance, however we didn’t see any food cart (take your own snacks!). Very attractive local vibes, small swimming area (shark signs around) and strong current.
The best beach on the island. The sand, the sea and greenery all around. Although many people can gather here it’s never crowded and you can find a place in the shade. Tourists and local people enjoy sunbathing, sports, surfing and swimming. Even on windy days you can enjoy waves close to the beach line, pure joy!
Wonderful beach, with lots of activities ongoing. Warning signs of sharks; be aware. Swimming and surfing appears to be only some metres from the shore. Beach sand very dark, perhaps evidence of its volcanic past and present.
Beautiful shining with small crystals! It's black sand was magical. It's really sand black sand and not rock dust. A few feet away was the lush greenery again. Kids played in it! And me too, without getting out hands or cloths dirty
It's a really beautiful beach, but the sand is very hot! Perhaps put some mats like near the beach tennis club to help people.
Large beach on the southern coast of Réunion Island with a shark barrier that makes possible bathing in part of it. Very soft sand with an ashy colour and powerful surf. It tends to be quite solitary in the areas away from the shark barrier. Parking on-site possible.
It is an amazing beach to relax on! There are plenty of trees that you can set up your towels and relax under. But beware, it's back sand and it gets really hot, so don't forget your sandals or flip flops. There are facilities for volleyball and the likes, as well as great restaurants practically on the beach. I understand surfing is available there (from beginners level), even though I don't personally surf, I saw many people doing so. The swimming area is not very big but it is very nice sandy area that isn't very deep, and can be ideal for kids. While there was a good amount of people present at the beach, there was a good amount of space to walk around, and not bump into anyone. Great experience overall, and definitely want to go back. 🙂
