PICTURES ARE FROM CHEZ FONFON UP THE ROAD. This was our experience coming to Michels. My wife had her heart set on trying Bouillabaisse while we were visiting marseille. She had attempted to make an online reservation but had been unsuccessful in being able to do so. We arrived a little after 7pm. Visiting from abroad, my wife speaks a little French, enough to communicate basic things. Upon entering there were 3 men sitting around a table inside smoking cigarettes. One man got up and asked if we had a reservation to which we did not and he told us they were full(the restaurant was empty but it was early). She asked where to make a reservation, the guy, clearly irritated by the question was not answering only shaking his head saying No, No ,No When she asked again, the guy gestured to another man coming through the door who was fluent in English. Again she asked where to make a reservation, his response was “ we are full tonight, probably full tomorrow night, maybe the night after that. We left after receiving such an arrogant response still not getting an answer. We ended up booking a reservation online at chez FONFON not far from this place which was a very enjoyable experience, clean, professional and polite. Best yet we probably spent less than we would have for poor service in a dated establishment.

For serious bouillabaisse experience Michel is THE spot. There is of course a menu and whatever you order will be served fresh (like the fish we ordered in addition to bouillabaisse). This is a pretty old restaurant with history that expands over several decades - with the original family still running the business. The service was excellent - special thanks to our sweet waiter who has been at the restaurant for 50 years himself. We really enjoyed the entire experience and were there as a large group of 8.

A Legend, please order Bouillabaisse, the best I have ever tasted. Service ist very old school, but was extremely professionell and friendly. My wife unfortunately does Not fish (allergic) but the Service offered a solution! Great! Within the staff of our Hotel (Sofitel) Chez Michel was the place to Go, No question! Digestif was carefully selected, bottles on the table to serve yourself. I have nee. Top many top Restaurants in France, but this was special. Unforgetable!!! I dream to come Back one day.

Classic old school restaurant with lots of tradition and famous in Marseille for their bouillabaisse. Opened in 1946 and today run by the 3rd generation. I'd recommend going here for the atmosphere and the great good.

This is one of those 'you gotta do it once in your life' kind of experiences. It is supposed to be the best most authentic bouillabaisse in the world. I can't speak to that being the first time I've ever had it. But is it worth the 80 Euros they charge? No. Is it the best food I've ever had? No. Would I go back? No. But...I'm glad I went and if I wanted to give someone an experience in Marseille they won't forget, I would absolutely come back for that. But if you're just looking for the best food you can get in Marseille, I would go elsewhere.

This place is full of history and tradition. It’s defiantly a place you go to, to honour that and the prices of thee food reflect that. I probably had the freshest fish of my life there with the most interesting combinations. The starter was also heavenly and the service was really good and took their time to make you feel at the centre of the service. The atmosphere reflects the tearoom and history of the restaurant and is pleasant, conducive to good conversations and sharing of food amongst friends. Their wine selection is fantastic and I recommend any of the rosé wines from Provence that they have on offer.

Long established & classy restaurant for bouillabaisse (famous fish soup from Marseille) if you don’t mind the price 🐟🐋🐠Battalion suggestion: provide options of smaller portions at lower prices

The best of best fish you can ever have Amazing quality and good fast service I think 80 eu is too much for this portion but quality wise that make sense I forgot to take pictures but as they only have one dish you can definitely check the photos Highly recommended if you love sea food otherwise the fishy smell will hurt you for sure
