This cathedral is absolutely stunning and one of the highlights of Marseille. The architecture is impressive both from the outside and inside, with its grand scale, intricate details, and beautiful light coming through the space. What makes it even more special is that it is free to enter, which is quite rare for a landmark of this size and beauty in Europe. It’s a peaceful and memorable place to visit, especially if you’re exploring the nearby waterfront.
It's an okayish church, beautiful outside but inside I wasn't as surprised compared to other churches! Anyway, you can pass by since it's free and it is quie nicely located! Don't worry, it can be still a nice place to meditation! I thank you so much for this experience! May God bless this church!!!
A stunning 19C cathedral: a wonderful space, in the Romanesque style. Get the app to understand more - if you don't mind watching through screens of dense text. But it contained the occasional gem - eg that the alter was found in an antique store. But the building is well worth a visit. And the chapels around the ambulatory are interesting, too.
A beautiful cathedral. I really liked the app you can download by scanning a QR code on the posters inside the church. It provide detailed information about the cathedrals construction and the meaning behind different works of art within. While i visited construction was ongoing on the exterior of the building. I look forward to returning once this is finished to take pictures of the exterior in all its glory.
I didn’t expect La Major to impress me as much as it did. Seeing it from the outside already feels special: the striped stone, the huge domes, the way it stands right by the sea. When I walked inside, it was quiet and surprisingly calming. I stayed longer than planned just looking around and enjoying the atmosphere. Even the area around the cathedral is beautiful to walk through. It’s one of the places in Marseille that really stayed with me.
It is a very beautiful cathedral, especially with those stripes incorporated in it, I have not been inside myself, but the surroundings are certainly beautiful, you can walk along the harbor.
Gorgeous Cathedral in the coast of Marseille which is already something unusual. The buidling itself is amazing inside and outside so it's a must visit. Free entrance.
The cathedral was constructed between 1852 and 1893 during the reign of Napoleon III. If you’re into these type of things you might find it interesting. Not fit for people in wheelchairs from the front might be from the side.
