We just spent 8 wonderful nights at the Victor Hugo Hotel and cannot recommend it enough! It is right in the heart of Nice—literally across from the tram and a 5-minute walk to the train station and the Promenade. The host Gilles (and his super cute dog!) made the trip extra special. He helped us plan our daily itineraries and gave the best transit tips. Plus, the daily breakfast was amazing with fresh pastries, bread, cheese, meats, fruit, and eggs. We loved France and will definitely be back!

I lived here for 4 days the hotel is 2 stars, you pay 2 stars you get 2 stars Positive things: the hotel is very well located, the owner is very kind, even though everything is small you have everything negative points: everything is very small, especially the bathroom. I am 95 kg and it was difficult for me to wash myself (if you are over 100 kg it will definitely be impossible) Good quality/price ratio, the hotel is not for demanding people or those over 100 kg

The hotel is located on the ground floor of a Belle Époque residential building. The location is excellent: a tram station with direct airport access is just on the next block. It is a 5-minute walk to the Promenade and 20 minutes to Vieux Nice.||The hotel has 8 rooms of various sizes that are a bit worn, some with cramped bathrooms. There is a fridge to keep a bottle of rosé cool, though I would have preferred a slightly cleaner floor.||An adequate buffet-style breakfast is included and served in a confined room. Fortunately, you can take a tray back to your room to escape the chitchat of fellow travellers.||Gilles does not like coffee. I managed with the dog.||Overall, it is a fairly priced alternative, especially considering the great location.

We have stayed at this hotel every trip since we discovered it in 2018. Gilles and his dog Marius are so welcoming, and Gilles is so helpful with advice about places to go and things to do (and how to get to them). The rooms are comfortable and well maintained. Easy acess to the beach on foot or other places, like the old port, by tram.

We've been staying at the hotel every year since 2018, except the 2 years of covid. The conciergerie, Gilles, and now the dog, Marius, have made our stays very pleasant. Gilles is very helpful and knowledgeable about events and attractions in Nice and the area. To us is a home away from home.

We were very warmly welcomed by Gilles and Marius, both making us feel right at home! Our room had plenty of natural sunlight, a lovely view out to the street and park over the road, a kitchenette, air conditioning, and our own clean bathroom. Gilles gave us a map and shared with us where to find various points of interest around Nice. Our breakfast each morning was a delicious spread of fresh, local foods and hot and cold drinks. We met really lovely guests from around the world during breakfast, adding to our lovely experience and the warm, homely feel. We miss our dog back in New Zealand, so having Marius there (the gorgeous friendly dog) was very comforting. The hotel was right in the heart of Nice, only taking us around 12 minutes to walk from the train station. The beach was a five minute walk and everywhere was walkable to us in Nice. We’re travelling around Europe for ten weeks and Nice is our favourite place so far!

The location is across the street from a Tram station located on a beautiful tree-lined boulevard with beautiful buildings and parks. It's about a 10 minute walk to the main thoroughfare of Jean Medecin Boulevard with tons of shops. My room was adorable, two twin beds, a balcony, refrigerator, utensils and glasess etc, AC, bathroom with shower. It was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is served at a room with a counter to sit at, very nice. Bed was comfy. The room looked out into a small courtyard and the boulevard. Gilles, the proprietor, will make you right at home, so helpful and friendly. The price is right for this little gem is a true find.

This was my first time visiting Nice and through thorough research, I came across Hotel Victor Hugo, run by Gilles and his adorable dog Marius. The hotel is located in a quiet area, so I never had to worry about a lot of people or car traffic noise bothering me. And huge plus, it's just across the street from a park and a tram station! Perfect if you want to relax somewhere peaceful and/or ofc you need to take the tram to get to Old Town. Gilles was helpful and hilarious. Upon check-in, he provided a pamphlet and pointed out some recommended spots to visit or eat at. Additionally, I loved playing with Marius whenever I could. He is friendly and just wants to play with everyone. Seeing a couple of his toys about just brought me jou. I booked the Jean Cocteau Suite, which includes a little kitchenette. The kitchenette had a mini fridge, microwave, and some plates, bowls, utensils if you need them. The bathroom was tiny but honestly that can be expected sometimes, as most buildings are going to be on the older side. The windows can open so if you want some slightly cooler air at night, you can! Or use the A/C, but remember to turn it off when youre not in the room! Breakfast was in a communal space that's both cozy and encourages being social. I spoke with some lovely couples from Miami , USA and Ireland. Overall, this hotel stay was lovely, convenient, and budget-friendly.
